It doesn’t take a genius to know that Sundays on Twitter will be dominated by God, Football and NASCAR. Though not necessarily in that order.

#thp is the hashtag for a site called The Hot Pass. A social networking site for NASCAR fans built using Ning. Like some other groups we’ve talked about here on Connect the Tweets, some members of the site have been using Twitter to follow/update/socialize around today’s racing action. Todays race, the Pep Boys Auto 500 is being held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

If you aren’t a fan of auto racing, the tweets will likely seem incomprehensible:

  • 26: “Yeah, I’m tight and loose. It just kinda sucks.”
  • 1 round of bite for the 26.
  • much discussion re tirestirestires. Bump stops, sizes, and capital outlay…
  • Carl tight in the middle
  • 18 pulling rubber out of the right rear
  • caution out…L109

But if you are a fan, you know exactly what those things mean. Numbers = numbers on cars. Loose = car is squirrelly on the track. Tight = car won’t turn. Luckily there are plenty of NASCAR Glossaries out there.

Still having trouble deciphering the chatter? Shoot me an e-mail and I’ll do my best to explain.

Follow things at the track via #thp on Twitter.
