Sachin Tendulkar / #cricket

Some day when I am rich, I will hire someone to take me to a Cricket match and explain the highly nuanced game. Why? I’d love to be able to understand this quote “Sachin Tendulkar broke Brian Lara’s record for most Test runs just after tea on the first day of the second Test against Australia in Mohali”¬†Until that time comes you’ll have to settle for this incredibly uninformed post.¬†

It would appear that Sachin Tendulkar, a Cricket player of some renown broke a record today. From wikipedia:

“Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar (born 24 April 1973 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India), often referred to as the Little Master or the Master Blaster, is an Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. In 2002, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time next only to Sir Donald Bradman, and the second greatest ODI batsman of all time next only to Sir Viv Richards. On 17 October 2008, he surpassed Brian Lara’s record for the most runs scored in Test Cricket.

Tendulkar is the first player to score 10,000 runs in One-day internationals, and has the most centuries in both Tests and ODIs. He is the only batsmen ever to make 12000 runs in test cricket. He is one of the three batsmen to surpass 11,000 runs in Test cricket and the first Indian to do so. He is the highest run scorer in both Test matches and ODIs, and also the batsman to score the most number of centuries in these two forms of the game.”

Unfortunately, that does little for me to clarify what exactly happened. If any Cricket fans would care to enlighten this post, please, please write to me as I would like to update that post and overcome my obvious ignorance here.
